1. ARPAK office BBQ
In 1975, I got a job at ARPAK (Architects and Regional Planners Asoociates, Kyoto) through my father's connection. I worked for two years at the Osaka Office, lugging a taperecorder and transcribing meeting minutes for the meeting with city officials of all the cities in Osaka prefecture. This was about hearing concerns of the cities in preparations of the prefectural regional plan, especially of those cities that would be affected by the New Kansai Airport to be built. I learned a lot about work and the area.

2. Tojuso
After ARPAK, I went to work for Tojuso, a group of archtects, engineers and landscape architects forming an organization to build co-op style apartments at the city center. Since it was a group of individulas, there was no hierarchy and the office had a very free atmosphere. Everything was discussed and agreed in a very democratic way. I loved working there and did so until I got married and came to the United States.
