Teramachi is the small dense shopping district of old Kyoto. It is always a treat for the senses and food for one's curiosity. It is several cuts about our Sunagin but that's why we love to visit Kyoto.

Hiroko's new condo is located in a part of Kyoto we had never visited. It is the old fabric artisan district. Some of the fine craft industry remains. Walking aroung the streets we peeked in. An fabric designed interrupted his work to show us a little of the craft. On the second floor was some framed calligraphy and paintings.

According to legend, Seiryuden Temple, perched upon Mt. Higashiyama in eastern Kyoto, is where the story of this ancient city began.
The temple was hosting an exhibit of a glass house created by an artist. It is a pretty long, steep walk up the mountain. The view from the temple and its gardens are worth the climb. | ||
