Around 2020 we began losing vegetables to gophers. I had places a layer of chickwire beneath each bed, but not meticulously. Gophers found holes. It rusted away. Summer 2021 I had to empty each bed and apply stronger mesh under each.

In 2022 and 2023 we lost trees to gophers. This meant war. Much of summer 2023 was consumed by burying 1"x1" welded wire in long deep trenchs.
